internal ribosomal entry site (сокр. IRES)[англ. site — участок, местоположение; англ. ribo(se) — рибоза, от перестановки букв в англ. arabinose — арабиноза и греч. soma — тело]нетранслируемая нуклеотидная последовательность, расположенная после одного из транслируемых участков полицистронной мРНК, с которой вновь связывается малая субчастица рибосомы и образуется комплекс, инициирующий новую трансляцию c той же матрицы (см. инициация трансляции).см. также участок связывания рибосомыТолковый биотехнологический словарь.
